Moffitt, Moss and Russell inducted into East Muskingum Hall of Fame

East Muskingum Local Schools recently inducted Jeffrey Moffitt, James Moss and Stacey Elliott Russell into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.

Moffitt graduated from John Glenn High School in 1999, earned a bachelor’s degree from College of Wooster in 2003 and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2009.

Jeffrey Moffitt

His research career began at the College of Wooster, where he co-created a science outreach program for the local elementary schools.

At the University of California, Berkeley, Moffitt developed a microscope capable of measuring atomic-scale movements and co-created a new microscopy technique that allows tens of thousands of different molecules to be imaged and identified within single cells within any tissue.

In 2018, he started a research laboratory at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital to discover new types of cells and map their organization in the human body, and to train the next generation of scientists. His dedication to research and teaching is a testament to his early education at John Glenn High School.
